Media Overkill
For the past few days I've been wanting to write an entry about Donald Trump's latest marriage but I decided that I did't want to be a part of giving that ridiculousness any more attention than it deserves, but I guess I can't stop myself from writing about it at least a little. I really don't understand why this wedding is getting all the media attention it's been getting. I guess I'm in the minority for not caring about every last detail about this wedding. Most others seem to think it's the most interesting thing ever, but I don't really care about her ring, the place they're getting married in, the food or how many dresses Trump's bride wasted money on. Society's fascination with celebrity and all it's trappings really amazes me sometimes.
The amount of money spent on that wedding is outrageous and sickening. I understand that these folks live a lifestyle that I don't understand and will never be a part of but I think that it's possible to do a wonderful wedding and not spend $3 million. In fact, I know its possible because Jim and I are planning what I hope will be a very nice wedding and we won't be spending a fortune on it. Actually, even the amount we will be spending, which is considered very reasonable and less than most couples spend on their weddings, pains me to spend on an event that is only one day. But I've always dreamed about getting married at an inn in Cape May so to make that happen I have to be willing to spend at least a little money. However, we sure aren't going to spend our life savings on one day, even if that means cutting corners or not doing things the most extravagant ways possible - which is just fine with us.
