Always Spinning

Over on the Sterling Marlin message board there's a woman who posts there who is not only a big Sterling Marlin fan, but also works doing Public Relations for Nashville Motor Speedway I think it is. She also helps out some of their sister tracks at events. Since she's apparently been doing this for a long time she's gotten to know many of the teams and drivers quite well. So apparently she talked to someone at Chip Ganassi Racing who told her about some sort of upcoming annoucement but wouldn't say what it was other than it was something that was "good and exciting."

What's funny to me is that when was there an annoucement, particularly during testing, that a team didn't say was "good and exciting?" Unless a driver is dead, injured or fired, virtually everything that teams do or say gets a positive, shiny spin, otherwise they try to downplay it. Even bad races get cleaned up and spun so that sometimes you think you must have watched a completely different race from the one in the team's race report. Of course they have to do that but someday I'd love to read an honest race report about a bad race. Today our car just sucked, the driver acted like a spoiled brat, the crew screamed at each and the driver's hands had to be removed from around his crew chief's neck after the race. Might make for much more exciting reading!
